Ingredients
2 1/2 cups fresh blackberries
2 1/2 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/3 cup white granulated sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, toss the blackberries and sliced apples with lemon juice, the 1/3 cup white sugar, and 3 tablespoons of flour until evenly coated.
Transfer the fruit mixture into a 9-inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, mix the oats, 1 cup flour, and brown sugar.
Use your fingers to rub the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the fruit base.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbling and the top is golden brown.
Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Ensure the butter is cold to achieve the best crumb texture.
If the topping browns too quickly, cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil during the final 10 minutes.
Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or Greek yogurt.
