Ingredients
5 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tsp cornstarch
1 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, 2 tbsp brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and cornstarch until evenly coated.
Transfer the apple mixture to a greased baking dish.
In a separate medium bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the oat mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apple mixture.
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit filling is bubbling.
Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
