Description
Soft and chewy orange cookies inspired by nostalgic creamsicle flavors, with fresh orange zest, orange juice, and creamy white chocolate chips.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange zest
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 1 cup white chocolate chips or vanilla baking chips
Instructions
1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then set aside.
2. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
4. Add the vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice, then mix until combined.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until incorporated.
6. Fold in the white chocolate chips.
7. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
8. Scoop or drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
9. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft.
10. Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use freshly grated orange zest for the brightest flavor.
Do not overbake; the centers should look slightly underdone when removed from the oven.
Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
