Perfect for busy weeknights, this recipe offers the warmth of a homemade apple pie with a fraction of the effort, making it the ideal centerpiece for quiet gatherings and shared joy.
Ingredients
2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and each cut into 8 wedges
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup ginger ale (non-alcoholic)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles.
Place one apple wedge on the wide end of each dough triangle and roll it up tightly, tucking the edges.
Place the rolled dumplings into the prepared baking dish.
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon until smooth.
Pour the butter mixture evenly over the top of the dumplings.
Pour the ginger ale around the edges of the pan, being careful not to wash off the butter mixture from the tops.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the dumplings are golden brown and the sauce is bubbling and thickened.
Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
Notes
For best results, use a firm, tart apple variety like Granny Smith. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the microwave or oven. You can add extra spices like nutmeg or cloves to the sugar mixture for more warmth.
