Ingredients
6 large ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, toss the sliced pears with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger until evenly coated.
Transfer the pear mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
In a separate medium bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and cut it in with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the pears.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
Allow the crisp to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven or microwave.
