Description

A creamy, nostalgic dessert featuring homemade vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and crisp Nilla Wafers. No-bake and easy to prepare for a comforting, layered treat.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups whole milk
1 cup granulated sugar
4 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract (halal/non-alcoholic alternative recommended)
4 ripe bananas, sliced
1 package (10 oz) Nilla Wafers
2 cups fresh whipped cream (optional)
1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional, for topping)

Instructions

In a saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, salt, and vanilla until smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly.
Remove from heat and let cool completely.
Layer Nilla Wafers in the base of a 9×13-inch dish. Add a layer of banana slices, then pour the cooled pudding over.
Repeat layers and top with whipped cream, chocolate chips, or additional bananas if desired.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Use fully ripe bananas for maximum sweetness.
Substitute cornstarch with arrowroot powder for a halal alternative.
Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
