Description

A Southern-inspired dessert blending the rich, fudgy texture of dark chocolate with the nutty sweetness of pecans in a buttery crust. Perfect for cozy gatherings or holiday feasts, it delivers comforting depth and indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

1¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup softened salted butter
1½ cups dark chocolate chips
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
½ cup brown sugar, packed
2 large egg yolks
1½ cups chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (non-alcoholic, if preferred)
¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F
Mix flour, salt, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and ½ cup butter until crumbly
Press mixture firmly into a 9-inch pie dish
Bake crust for 10 minutes, then cool slightly
In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and vanilla
Add granulated and brown sugars, corn syrup, and remaining butter; mix until smooth
Fold in chocolate chips and chopped pecans until fully incorporated
Pour filling into cooled crust
Bake for 40-45 minutes until set
Cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving

Notes

Use non-alcoholic vanilla extract to ensure halal compliance.
For a crispier crust, chill the pressed crust in the freezer for 15 minutes before baking.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
